The American Heart Association (AHA) has a great opportunity for a Part-time Internship with our National Team. The location for this position is flexible and remote. This internship will focus on supporting the National Hypertension Control Initiatives with program support, administrative and organizational duties.

The NHCI program is focused on fostering health equity and blood pressure control in affected communities through training for health center staff serving these communities, raising awareness about blood pressure and providing training to communities to measure and control blood pressure through medications and lifestyle changes.

Internship Outcomes:

Individuals participating in the internship program are provided with an opportunity to:

• Complete an internship that enriches your academic and professional resume as well as enriching your personal life by making a difference in the lives of others

• Assist with the development of materials and resources.
• Public health research.
• Establishing/maintaining strong community partnerships.
• Program development and implementation.

Administrative and technological support.

• Candidates who are juniors, seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in Nursing, Biology, Health Science, Healthcare administration, Healthcare Technology or Community Health.
• Demonstrated ability to research health topics and translate findings into actionable guidance.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues in collaboration with Business Technology teams and Technology vendors.
• Demonstrated excellence in written communications skills, including writing on health topics for promotional or educational outcomes.
• Experience with Marketing-Communication programs and development of promotional materials is preferred.
• Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
• Ability to deal professionally in a corporate or non-profit environment and assume responsibility for guiding projects and programs from inception through completion.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
• Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future.  For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
