We have an excellent opportunity for a Vice President of Community Impact based in our Chicago office. The VP will drive the execution of health impact goals within the Chicago market by focusing in the areas of hypertension, cholesterol, nutrition, obesity, and physical activity with a focus on diverse communities. The VP is a player/coach responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of community health strategies across the market to achieve market and association strategic goals and will work closely with the Metro Executive Director and Market Vice President of Development to provide vision and direction for the market's unified health and revenue efforts.

• Guide and direct assigned staff to reach goals.  Accountable for hiring, directing, training, evaluating and terminating staff under his/her supervision.
  
  
• Oversee integrated planning processes for the market’s health and revenue efforts for all functional areas within span of control.  Actively involve, inform and integrate with internal partners across the metro market, affiliate and association.
  
  
• Recruit and engage volunteer leadership that represents and provides the diversity, community influence and personal affluence to champion the market’s board of director’s revenue and health impact objectives.
  
  
• Identify opportunities for and promote collaboration and synergies among and between health and revenue functions to most effectively execute American Heart Association/American Stroke Association priority initiatives.
  
  
• Directly implement community impact strategies as appropriate.
  
  
• Develop and manage/monitor market development budgets within span of control and internal business operations in accordance with policies, fiscal standards and the approved operating budget.
  
  
• Community interaction and networking with top level executives on behalf of the American Heart Association.

• 7+ years of experience working with community/public health issues and/or managing community/public health promotion or related educational programs.  
  
  
• 5+ years of experience in attracting, recruiting, managing and evaluating volunteers, with an emphasis on high-level/executive volunteers.
  
  
• 3+ years of experience in a management capacity. This experience may occur within the 7-year related experience requirement. Experience gained through direct internal work on American Heart Association projects/priorities may substitute for this requirement and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  
  
• Experience working with multicultural communities preferred.
  
  
• Understanding of local health systems, relationships with hospitals, health clinics, and Federally Qualified Health Centers preferred.
  
  
• Proven ability to recruit, mobilize and manage volunteers, including C-suite level executives.
  
  
• Bachelor’s or some college plus experience preferred.
  
  
• Demonstrated critical thinking skills in assessing the local market environment and available resources to successfully implement new and existing programs.
  
  
• Demonstrated ability to manage large projects and events ensuring deadline compliance.
  
  
• Demonstrated ability to efficiently participate in a multi-disciplinary team environment working towards common goals with internal and external clients. Ability to influence team members without supervisory authority.
  
  
• Must have at least intermediate knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office.
  
  
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
