Responsibilities

This individual will lead efforts to leverage the organizations research platform and clinical data sets to further science and innovation. This role will cultivate relationships with clinical and industry thought leaders, internal and external stakeholders and partner organizations to create opportunities to leverage the organizations research platform and data sets in novel projects aligning with the organizations’ mission. This position will lead product development and operations for the Precision Medicine Platform (PMP), a cloud based, secure analytic environment, where investigators can collaborate on cutting edge research. The successful candidate should possess a strong understanding of cardiovascular disease and stroke data sets, clinical research (both academic and industry) and data privacy regulations. This role will work cross functionally with the organizations Data Science, Research, Health IT, Legal and Business Technology. This role will also oversee vendor relationships.  The desired candidate will have strong communication skills, negotiation skills, and be results driven.

  • Drive growth in the use of the organizations data sets, clinical research and accelerated scientific discovery, including opportunities to bring therapies that may benefit heart and stroke patients to market more rapidly.
  • Lead efforts to improve communication with stakeholders, volunteers and industry to increase understanding of the organizations data sets and their application in clinical research.
    • Coordinate and help run PMP Executive Committee Meetings (3x per year).
  • Manage the PMP product and operations, including product roadmap, operations such as user onboarding and communications, collaborate with technology vendor and technical support, budgeting, etc.
  • Develop relationships with academic and industry partners to expand the use of the PMP and the organizations data sets.
  • Partner with the organizations Data Science in the following areas:
    • Collaboration on PMP product roadmap, resolution of more complex PMP user issues and user facing communications, special PMP projects.
    • Periodic updates of the organization’s datasets on the PMP based on annual, twice annual data harvest schedule.
    • Manage and coordinate data bootcamps and collaborate with Data Science on programming.
    • Project Management and resource allocation planning as needed for GWTG analysis projects.
  • Manage data challenges hosted on the PMP; contract negotiation if licensing an external dataset, promotion, communications, participant management, etc.
  • Manage Data Science funding opportunities (i.e. grant administration) directed by the Chief of Data Science.
  • Negotiate and manage all vendor, license agreements, research contracts related to the PMP.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • At least five (5) years of relevant experience
  • Experience overseeing software development projects and ongoing maintenance of software applications as a product/business owner
  • Familiarity with data privacy rules, best practices for data security
  • Ability to multi-task and appropriately prioritize several projects and tasks happening in parallel
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Ability to orally present information to internal and external audiences
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to travel approximately 15% per year for team meetings, major conferences/bootcamps, etc. 

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Project/Program management experience leading short-term projects and/or long-term programs
  • High level understanding of data analysis/statistical analysis concepts
  • Experience working with committees and volunteers
  • Ability to manage complex relationships with external partners and allied organizations
  • Ability to navigate across various departments and understand how to connect colleagues to solve problems in a timely manner

Compensation & Benefits

The expected pay range will be $90,000 to $110,000. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply.
