The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization. 


The Association offers many resources to help you maintain work-life harmonization through your changing needs and life situations.  To help you be successful, you will have access to Heart U, our award-winning corporate university, as well as training and support locally and through our National Center.

 

The American Heart Association has an opportunity for a Marketing Analyst Intern in our Mission Advancement department. Mission Advancement is responsible for raising individual major gifts and foundation grants of $100,000 or more, as well as government grants, and estate gifts from donors who wish to make an impact and leave a lasting legacy. 

 

The work of the Mission Advancement team is centered on building strong donor relationships and providing opportunities for financial support that align with the donor’s financial capacity and interests.  The Mission Advancement MarCom team drives lead development and donor engagement for charitable estate giving, for recruitment and engagement of our Professional Advisor Network, and for engagement and analysis of our national giving societies efforts.  The Marketing Analyst Intern will support the team’s planning, data development, execution, and reporting in a variety of ways, described below.

Internship Overview:

  • Time Commitment: 20 hours per week
  • Internship Duration: 5/19/25-8/22/25
  • Location: Remote in Eastern or Central Time Zone with Tuesday availability
  • Salary: $23.00 per hour

Responsibilities

This marketing intern opportunity is primarily a marketing data internship and will not have a heavy focus on other aspects of marketing.

 

Tasks could include things like the following:

Research and Analysis

  • Conduct top-line research to identify environmental trends.
  • Conduct competitor analysis
  • Conduct analysis on marketing results, providing detailed reports with graphics and charts, as appropriate
  • Conduct analysis to help define marketing segments and targets
  • Follow protocols established by the Marketing Manager or other MarCom staff members.

 

Data Development

  • Conduct analysis related to data quality, uncovering and reporting on improvements needed in data, typically in Salesforce CRM or Salesforce Marketing Cloud
  • Support the quality improvement of desired segmented data, using a project management approach

 

Support Fundraising Strategies

  • Provide research-driven insights to inform fundraising strategies and engagement plans for prospects.
  • Participate in meetings to discuss research findings and contribute to strategic discussions.

 

Confidentiality and Ethics

  • Handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion and professionalism.
  • Adhere to ethical guidelines and data privacy regulations when conducting research and handling donor information.

 

Qualifications

  • Candidates who are college seniors or graduate students with a business major with a focus on marketing, marketing data analytics and data segmentation
  • Research skills - An ability to do “deep dives” in marketing data.
  • Strong analytical skills, comfortable with qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Experience or coursework in CRM database applications such as Salesforce and marketing automation applications such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud preferred.
  • Experience with Project Management tools or strong interest in project management preferred.
  • Problem solving and critical thinking.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities and strong attention to detail and follow through.
  • A highly motivated self-starter who creates opportunity does not wait for direction, is highly organized and operates with limited management – this role must be resourceful.
  • Ability to work independently and professionally in a corporate environment and assume responsibility for completing projects from inception through final results.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
  • Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection
  • Availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F within the 8:30am-5:00pm eastern or central timezone.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future. As a remote position, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
