Overview

 

The American Heart Association has an opportunity for a grant funded position as a Youth Market Coordinator, on our School Engagement Team.

 

The Youth Market Coordinator coordinates and implements a new program, Westly’s Mile, in collaboration with Healthy West Orange. This unique opportunity incorporates our Kids Heart Challenge program into an existing elementary school walking/running club. This club promotes wellness, physical activity, nutrition, and many other components/content from our KHC program along with a structure/routine that engages students year-round with a walking/running club.

 

This is a part-time, 25 hours per week role and is funded through June 30, 2027, with potential to move to full-time after the first year.

The ideal candidate for this position will live in West Orange County, Orlando FL.

 

This position will report to the Region VP of School Engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully recruit, plan, and execute running/walking clubs in West Orange County school
  • Work with school officials to promote Westly’s Mile, encouraging students to run/walk in the morning or afternoon at least three times per week
  • Work with school officials to implement a tracking program to ensure students are participating. Train and assist entering registrations into tracking system.
  • Work with teachers to set achievable goals for students.
  • Provide resources to each school including heart-healthy educational materials, incentives, and awards.
  • Order any additional items such as tablets, milestone key chains, post-event thank you gifts, etc. for the schools to conduct their event
  • Work with the school to plan three celebration events to keep students motivated and inspired throughout the school year.
  • Assist the school in conducting a post behavioral survey for teachers and parents they deem appropriate and useful for students participating in Westly’s Mile
  • Attend each school’s Westly’s Mile run club one to two times a month as time allows

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years prior relevant work experience in a supporting role preferred.
  • Understanding of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
  • Excellent written communications skills
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the willingness to work with all social strata, occupations, and multiple types of backgrounds.
  • Ability to drive to/from home to local schools.
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated team.
