American Heart Association is seeking a dynamic and experienced Sr. Business Accountant, Business Technology at our National Center in Dallas, TX.

 

The Sr. Business Accountant, Business Technology will be a senior professional and subject matter expert responsible for accounting for developing and ensuring effective business financial operations management for Business Technology including departmental budgeting, financial reporting and analysis. May manage projects, requiring review other's work. Responsible for oversight of operational support functions in collaboration with Finance, Procurement, Legal or other departments as needed. Responsible for consulting, advising and providing approaches as a trusted colleague to BT staff. Responsible for leading and ensuring financial operational processes and deliverables of the business operations team meets the needs of Business Technology. May serve as a team lead or manage others.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates and manages the Business Technology budgets in coordination with Business Technology Leadership Team with the appropriate guidance from the Finance Team. Prepares annual budget instructions and templates, facilitates budget training and communication, and collaborates with Financial Reporting team on revisions to ensure accuracy. Provides budget management support to BT leadership and BT managers for annual salary, operational and capital budgets. Works with BT leadership and the Association’s finance team to guide them through the annual approval processes. Develops and implements new processes to provide consistent monthly departmental budget reporting.
  • Conducts cost accounting, allocating and analyzing direct and indirect costs, actual vs.
  • budgeted cost variance analysis, etc. Typically, coaches, reviews and may delegate the work to
  • other professionals or business services. May serve as a team lead, player / mentor or manages
  • May manage projects, requiring review other's work.
  • Reviews and reports on annual revenue/expense budgets to support the business in controlling
  • funds and measuring operating results. Analysis may consist of inventory, costs, revenue,
  • expenditure, cash flow, profitability, operating performance, and budgets.
  • Help with financial modeling and analysis for Technology budgets and projected spend to validate effective and efficient use of technology budget. Assists in management of the Technology Project Fund candidate project list and quarterly review/approval processes with the Association’s C-level executive management. Supports the BT Leadership team in setting priorities and balancing investments Run/Grow and Innovation. Coordinates and facilitates a quarterly BT operational/capital budget review and forecasts to ensure transparency into annual budget state.
  • Analyzes costs and helps facilitate vendor negotiations to optimize potential savings in high risk, strategic technology contracts. Maintains awareness of contract renewal and other deadlines for standard vendor-required documents, such as Certificate of Insurance and assists Managers as needed with document handling. Help develop models and implement financial controls while collaborating with all parties to ensure vendors meet cost parameters. Assists BT budget owners in researching budget, payments and/or contract related issues or questions and works with the appropriate Association’s finance, legal or procurement staff to clarify or correct if needed. Shepherds process to resolution. Liaises with Procurement and Legal as necessary to ensure efficient processing and completion.
  • Under the guidance and supervision of Business Technology EVP and direct SVP leader, serves as lead over the Technology Administrative Support team to ensure responsibilities are timely and accurately performed to include assisting with technology contract facilitation, purchase order generation, invoice payment
  • Analyzes Business Technology financial activities monthly. Prepares qualitative analysis of technology spend against budget for review by the EVP Technology and Business Technology Leadership Team with recommendations to reflect effective and efficient use of available budget.
  • Manages cost savings/budget alignment projects and make recommendations for approval through Business Technology leadership team. Develops plans for implementation of recommendations.
  • Develops continuous process improvement strategies to achieve efficiencies and cost savings.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope and responsibility of the job level and family.

Qualifications

  • 5 years minimum prior relevant experience in financial support of complex technology environments Preferred: Experience with executive and senior level leadership in routine work and in presentations required. Extensive experience with multi-business vertical and/or business revenue streams 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years working with technology third party contracts and related financial management and budgets.
