The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity to join the team of our high-performing, deeply collaborative Bay Area Division based in Oakland, California.

 

The Senior Development Director plays a key leadership role in advancing the American Heart Association’s mission by driving high-impact fundraising campaigns—like Go Red for Women—and fostering strong collaboration with internal teams and community partners to meet ambitious revenue and health impact goals.

 

We offer a base salary with the potential to earn an incentive up to 25% of your base pay. The potential incentive is based on achieving certain revenue targets and triggers.

Responsibilities

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or equivalent type experience.
  • Demonstrated track record in building effective, collaborative teams of staff and volunteers with experience recruiting, engaging and activating corporate and medical volunteers with significant community influence.
  • Demonstrated track record in setting and achieving aggressive goals through volunteer engagement on a sustained basis.
  • Ability to influence others to action through creating a shared vision and sense of ownership and personal accountability.
  • Demonstrated experience recruiting and engaging high level corporate and medical executives as volunteers.
  • Ability to credibly establish and execute a strategic plan across functional areas and disciplines in a complex and highly dynamic environment, effectively translating strategies to measurable goals and plans.
  • Proven ability to think strategically, analyze market data, identify key trends - internal and external - and have participated in the strategy development and execution of initiatives to achieve mission-aligned fundraising and operational goals.
  • Ability to lift and/or move large objects (such as boxes) with the expectation that heavier items would be broken down into smaller components or requesting additional assistance may be required before lifting and/or moving

Compensation & Benefits

Expected pay range will be $86,900 to $104,000 annually. This position is incentive eligible based on achieving certain targets. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply.
