The American Heart Association has an opportunity for a Program Consultant Healthcare Quality, supporting Mission Lifeline in Nevada. This position can be home-based.

 

This is a full time, benefits eligible, grant funded opportunity. Current funding will expire on April 30, 2027, with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities

Implementation & Quality Improvement

  • Lead the implementation of quality improvement projects that help healthcare providers align care with AHA guidelines for patients with cardiovascular disease.
  • Monitor progress, identify challenges, and recommend data-driven solutions to improve hospital performance and patient care.

Consultation & Clinical Support

  • Provide individualized consultation, direction, and technical assistance to 14 rural hospitals to improve patient outcomes.
  • Develop and implement clinical decision support tools in collaboration with clinicians to strengthen systematic strategies and workflows.
  • Engage hospital clinical teams, EMS, and first responders to address barriers, support guideline adoption, and build stronger systems of care.

Learning & Knowledge Sharing

  • Design, facilitate, and evaluate learning cohorts to identify and share best practices across rural facilities.
  • Plan and facilitate learning cohort meetings and local conferences in collaboration with volunteers, staff partners, and healthcare stakeholders.
  • Serve as the point person for resces to sustain hospital and clinic knowledge (e.g., online education, articles, and toolkits).

Relationship Management & Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal staff, external stakeholders, and volunteers to strengthen program impact.
  • Recruit program participants and foster ongoing engagement to support continuous improvement and adoption of best practices.

Grant & Program Management

  • Coordinate closely with the Senior Manager to ensure tasks are completed on time and in alignment with grant requirements.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to build buy-in and ensure the successful delivery of grant objectives.
  • Develop and implement sustainability plans in partnership with staff and volunteers to maintain program success beyond the grant period.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience is required
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience is expected
  • The ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Experience working in healthcare or a public health–related organization, including clinical care, quality improvement, program development, or systems improvement
  • Specific experience in the post-acute clinical setting is strongly preferred
  • Experience working with clinical audiences to influence change initiatives that improve patient outcomes is required.
  • The role requires the ability to build trust, communicate effectively, and establish strong working relationships with volunteers.
  • The ability to increase volunteer engagement and motivation across all levels is required.
  • The consultant must be able to assess volunteer skills and interests and create meaningful roles that leverage those strengths.
  • The ability to communicate proactively and effectively with different groups of volunteers is necessary.
  • The consultant must be able to foster a spirit of belonging and community among volunteers.
  • Proficiency in project management is required, including managing budgets, timelines, activity plans, and communications with team members and stakeholders.
  • The ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team environment is expected.
  • The role requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with staff, volunteers, and members of the public at all levels of the American Heart Association.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is required.
  • The position requires the ability to travel up to 30% - 40%, including overnight stay

Compensation & Benefits

The expected pay range will be $70,000 to $90,000. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. The American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. The American Heart Association invests in its people.
