The American Heart Association is seeking a Social Media Consultant to join our team 30-35 hours/ week on a short-term basis (4-6 weeks) to support audience development initiatives and other ad hoc projects. This role is ideal for someone who is deeply curious about cultural trends, understands how conversations unfold online, and can translate insights into actionable recommendations. 

 

What we’re solving for  - Ensuring continuity in cultural listening, audience development and project work during a paternity leave period. Delivering actionable insights and scalable frameworks that empower our team to sustain growth and engagement over the long-term.

Responsibilities

Research & Analysis: 

  • Explore assigned cultural topics and trends to understand how they manifest across digital and social platforms. 
  • Conduct in-depth audience development research across platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.) 
  • Analyze competitor (direct and ancillary) strategies and emerging trends to inform content and engagement tactics 
  • Gatheractionable insights based on qualitative(e.g., themes, narratives, sentiment) andquantitative data(e.g., audience size, engagement metrics, platform behaviors). 

Audience Development:

  • Identify potential audiences we can engage with, their interests and the questions they are asking. 
  • Highlight opportunities for providing value and building meaningful connections. 

 

Collaboration: 

  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure all recommendations align with strategic planning, science-approved information and brand guidelines. 
  • Support project work as needed, including content calendar development, reporting, and stakeholder presentations 

Key Deliverables:

  • Audience Profile and Engagement Report
  • Audience profiles, including opportunities for expansion 
  • Key conversation drivers 
    • Engagement opportunities 
  • Meta Cultural Listening Guide
    • Ongoing operational implementation recommendation for cultural listening
  • YouTube Channel Recommendations
    • Recommendations to optimize content and implement best practices to drive audience growth and engagement

Qualifications

 

  • 5-8 years in social media and digital marketing strategy
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, cultural trends and digital communities. 
  • Experience in social listening, audience research and data synthesis. 
  • Ability to translate insights into actionable strategies. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. 
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment to make an impact  
  • Deep familiarity with YouTube Channel Analytics 
  • Knowledge of Sprinklr or Meltwater’s listening tools preferred
