We have an opportunity for a Senior Development Director in St. Petersburg, FL! The Senior Director is responsible for coordinating, planning, and implementing strategies and resources necessary to achieve campaign goals and objectives, while leading a fundraising team and holding staff and volunteers accountable to their goals.

 

This position is hybrid: Office-based and with the emphasis of being in the community, engaging in-person in the Tampa and St. Petersburg, FL markets.

Responsibilities

 

  • Achieving assigned revenue goals by developing and maintaining relationships with corporate and community partners.
  • Coaching and mentoring 3 direct reports to ensure their success.
  • Ensuring your team meets/exceeds annual revenue goals for the market.
  • Driving new business development by soliciting sponsorships and generating participant income through developing year-round business and cultivation plans.
  • Driving peer-to-peer fundraising by supporting corporate partners and team leaders effectively.
  • Recruiting, orienting, and managing C-suite volunteer leadership based on nationally established methodologies.
  • Leading your team in the identification, cultivation and recruitment of C-suite and executive volunteer leaders.
  • Owning the efforts of building volunteer leadership committees.
  • Maintaining an ongoing pipeline of potential sponsors, donors, and volunteer leadership to advance our mission.
  • Developing and implementing a plan of revenue growth through key fundraising events, strategic market partnerships and philanthropic donors.
  • Planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating assigned fundraising event(s) according to standard methodologies and event timeline.
  • Confirming detailed, timely and accurate data entry of relevant information.
  • Collaborating with other staff and volunteers as needed to promote and support local initiatives and to optimize event market strategy.

 

 

In this role, you will report to our Vice President of Development and will lead a team of fundraising directors to meet the revenue goal for the Tampa Bay market with a focus on the Tampa Bay Heart Walk campaign. Daily travel within the market is required.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in fundraising, outside sales or in a nonprofit organization in a similar capacity, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge and skills in fundraising principles, practices, and techniques
  • Ability and experience recruiting, training, and encouraging top-level donors and volunteers
  • Excellent listening skills, including verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening, negotiating, problem-solving and decision-making
  • Highly effective organizational skills, time management, responsibility, leadership, and motivation
  • Ability to work outside of standard hours which may involve some evenings and/or weekends
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout assigned geographical territory
  • Ability to lift and/or move large objects (such as boxes) with the expectation that heavier items would be broken down into smaller components or requesting additional assistance may be required before lifting and/or moving

 

Here are some of the preferred experience and skills we are seeking:

  • Knowledge of corporate and community networks
  • 2 years of experience in a management capacity, preferably fundraising staff
