The American Heart Association has a Temporary, part-time Development Manager opportunity based in Arlington, VA.  The primary focus for this position is supporting our Associate VP, Development, with a major campaign initiative for the Greater Washington Region.  This position will be based in our Arlington, VA, office and will require a total of 110 hours over approximately 10 days.   

This is a temporary, part-time position and will go through the event timeframe that will be outlined by management, ending in mid-May. This part-time position will not be eligible for benefits or paid time off.

Responsibilities

As the Temporary Development Manager, you may touch all aspects of the auctions for this four-day event.  Crucial duties will include the follow details, along with ongoing interaction with donors, team members and leadership.

  • The Temporary Development Manager will be responsible for supporting the Associate VP, Development, and the team that leads all aspects of the Heart's Delight Wine Tasting & Auction campaign.  This high-end 4-day Annual event.  This event will host winemakers, chefs, and approximately 1,000 Distinguished guests over the 4 days.

  • This opportunity will be 70% focused on administrative/volunteer management and 30% on fundraising/auction responsibilities. There will be external meetings with local travel; therefore, you will be required to have reliable transportation available at all times on an immediate basis. 

  • Duties may include:
    • Maintaining a high level of service by responding to customer inquiries both internally and externally in a knowledgeable and timely manner.
    • Working independently and within a team on special nonrecurring and ongoing projects.
    • Working with the staff and auction committee on silent and live auctions for the Heart's Delight, including data management, inventory, donation outreach, and other duties.
    • Assisting with event logistics, including recruiting and training volunteers, scheduling, in-person meetings, set up, execution, and tear down.
    • Process data using our management systems, ensuring accuracy and making changes as necessary.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or other related experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Ability to do daily local travel up to 25%; requires access to reliable transportation at all times on an immediate basis
  • Ability to lift and/or move large objects (such as boxes) with the expectation that heavier items would be broken down into smaller components, or requesting additional assistance may be required before lifting and/or moving
  • Must have at least basic knowledge and skill/proficiency with Microsoft Office

Here are some of the preferred experiences and skills we are seeking:

  • Experience handling and cultivating high-level leaders at the C-Suite level
  • Knowledge of corporate and community networks
  • University/College degree or equivalent experience, preferred

Compensation & Benefits

The expected pay range is $30.70 to $50.00/hour. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials may apply to the pay range. American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.
