We are currently hiring a Development Manager in our Los Angeles market. Under broad supervision, this role is responsible for expanding and supporting an assigned portfolio of donors and volunteers, including through stewardship events, in support of overall achievement of campaign, market and regional goals. This position will collaborate with internal and external partners on communications, events marketing and logistics, budget management and deliverables. 

We have a fast-paced sales type of environment with the main responsibility of driving revenue in support of our mission.  We offer a base salary with the potential to earn an incentive up to 25% of your base pay. The potential incentive is based on achieving certain revenue targets and triggers.

Responsibilities

  • As a member of the Development team, responsible for developing donor relationships and coordinating strategic engagement and stewardship opportunities including day of event, Circle of Red and Cor Vitae donors and corporate and community-based activation opportunities. Designs and implements strategies for engagement, solicitation, stewardship and renewal of donors and volunteers with personalized communication and consistent follow-through. 
  • Recruits and manages volunteer leadership committees related to auction and event planning/logistics.  Manages procurement of auction items to strategically maximize fundraising opportunities and donor engagement.
  • Supports sponsorship opportunities, focusing on cultivating and renewing table sponsors.
  • Serves as lead customer service contact for social market campaigns.  Maintains regular communication and proactively identifies resources and solutions to provide optimal donor and volunteer experiences.
  • Ensures that appropriate resources and materials are available for campaign evaluations and team meetings, working with appropriate staff in determining the required information and preparing and distributing materials timely and accurately.  Utilizes CRM systems and processes according to established standards.

Qualifications

  • 0-2 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or other related experience
  • University/College degree or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated track record in donor and volunteer relations
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with proactive communication, thorough planning and execution and allocating/providing resources, additional support or training.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.  Ability to consistently maintain a professional, calm and friendly manner in creating positive customer experiences externally and internally.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to identify potential issues that may impact organizational productivity and/or compliance and address proactively and timely.
  • Effective project management and event management skills in a dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience in positively managing change including anticipating and championing organizational change, creating contingency plans, proactively considering short-term and long-term impact.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to do daily local travel up to 25%; requires access to reliable transportation at all times on an immediate basis

Preferred Experience:

  • Knowledge of the Association's standards and procedures.
  • Experience with sales or fundraising strategies

  • Compensation Expected pay range will be $73,000 to $80,000. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. The American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Our goal is to ensure you have a competitive base salary.  That’s why we regularly review the market value of jobs and make adjustments, as needed.
