We have an excellent opportunity for a Fundraising Manager-Education Sector. This position will report to the Vice President of Youth Market for the SouthWest region. This position plans, organizes, monitors, and evaluates Youth Market District Heart Challenge (DHC) throughout the assigned territory of Texas, Colorado, Arkansas, New Mexico, Wyoming and Oklahoma. This position works with Wellness Leads/those over Employee Wellness in School Districts to support employee wellness and fundraising for the American Heart Association. This position will work with corporate teams to manage how we're engaging districts across teams (workplace health solutions, hydration station, CPR, etc). Will also work to secure sponsorship for DHC. Guarantees effective and efficient utilization of resources through an integrated marketing approach. The current fundraising goal is $400-$625k. This can be a home officed position or the candidate may office out of Dallas. The candidate must reside within proximity to Dallas to best manage the territory. This position will require travel within the assigned territory including overnights.


Essential Job Duties:

  • Share in the planning, management, and evaluation of the region through participation as a member of the management team.
  • Responsible for the overall planning, monitoring, coordination, promotion and evaluation of the Youth Market programs including District Heart Challenge.  This position may also be called to help support Kids Heart Challenge & American Heart Challenge as well as other Youth Market activities.
  • Implement and evaluate mid-range and annual goals/objectives for the defined territories.
  • Promote the Region to outside organizations, agencies, and associations that have common interests as they relate to AHA Youth Market 
  • Provide orientation, training and consultation to staff and volunteers for all activities related to Youth markets, with primary emphasis on District Heart Challenge.
  • Must be able to travel within assigned territory, including overnight travel.
  • Develop and manage a departmental budget related to the assigned territory.
  • Secure/coordinate vendor support that will contribute to the most efficient management of Rrgion-wide projects.
  • Ensure adherence to all national and Regional Youth Market policies, guidelines and procedures.
  • Advise senior management on policies, procedures and issues related to Youth Market 
  • Develop and implement a multi-year Business Plan, incorporating specific strategies to guarantee three-year growth to bring Region to National Youth Market. Also include strategies to form partnerships at the Regional and local level.
  • Works with appropriate volunteer task forces.
  • Collaborate with Region counterparts in other areas of the Region and Nationally.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred. College coursework combined with related experience may be substituted for a degree. 
  • 4+ years of experience in outside sales or in a non-profit organization in a similar capacity. This experience may also count towards satisfying this position’s educational requirement.
  • 2+ years of experience in a volunteer management capacity. This experience may occur within the 4-year related experience requirement. Experience gained through direct internal work on AHA projects/priorities may substitute for this requirement and will be considered on a case-by-case basis. 
  • Ability to lift at least 20 lbs. from the ground to waist level with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Intermediate knowledge and skill with office-related computer programs used for word processing, email, and spreadsheets.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, demonstrated by the ability to organize, plan, implement and evaluate.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and forecast budgets and other numerical data.
  • Demonstrated community organizational skills with the ability to recruit, train and manage volunteers effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the willingness to work with all social strata, occupations and diverse backgrounds.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 75% of the time within the region and to National Center, as needed.
  • Ability to supervise clerical and field sales staff which includes daily local business travel; ride-a-longs with staff in their defined territories.
  • Presentation skills for small and large groups.
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated team.
  • Non-smoking environment.
