Responsibilities

The American Heart Association (AHA) has a Temporary, part-time grant funded position for a Lebanon Mobile Kitchen Associate (Part Time), based in Lebanon PA.  The primary focus for this position is assisting the Lebanon Mobile Kitchen with meal preparation, logistics for small group trainings and food demonstrations, and clean-up.  This position will average 5 hours per week.  As this is grant-funded, temporary, part time position anticipated to last until 6/30/2023, depending on the duration of funding. 

  • Complete the site/location tests before commitment to trainings (taking the burners for a test to ensure we have enough power, ensuring there is room for set up, logistics, etc.).

  • Coordinate the food, cooking materials, and incentive items for attendees for the sessions.

  • Move Mobile Kitchen supplies out of storage and prepared for each training session.

  • Transport and put all supplies back into the storage area when trainings are complete.

  • Finalize vetting and adaptation of the Simple Cooking Recipes for “mobile environment”.

Qualifications

  • Must have earned a high school diploma or GED. 

  • Experience in event planning, organizing, consultation and event logistics preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently, along with attention to detail.

  • Must have at least intermediate knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office 2013 used for word processing, email, presentations, and spreadsheets.  Advanced knowledge and skill with these programs is preferred. These skills are subject to testing.

  • Experience with food preparation, including safe handling of food.

  • Ability to work in a team environment and interact with all levels of American Heart Association staff, volunteers, and the public. This includes ability and willingness to build and cultivate relationships within and outside the American Heart Association. This also includes the ability to work collaboratively with others to use resources to achieve common goals.

  • Ability to be diplomatic, self-motivated, resourceful, considerate, and flexible.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to work outside in the spring, summer, fall as needed to support outdoor cooking demonstrations.
  • Ability to work occasional weekends, as needed, to assist with transporting supplies to and from the cooking event and/or if helping with the demonstration that day.
  • Proven background and willingness to work in an atmosphere requiring flexibility and change.

  • Access to reliable transportation and ability to maintain valid driver’s license and auto insurance. 

  • Ability to transport materials and other supplies to and from meetings and events.

  • Must pass background check and must be at least 18 years old.
