Due to the current pandemic, daily travel is minimal and voluntary to ensure the health and safety of staff. There is no overnight travel currently. In the future, this position may resume daily and/or overnight travel.  All AHA offices are closed and staff are currently working from home. Offices will be reopening in October 2021.

 

Responsibilities

The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for an Operations Manager in our Quality & Health IT department! This position can be remote/home based but must live near a major airport.

 

This is a full time, benefits eligible, grant funded opportunity. Current funding will expire on 6/30/2024.

 

This position, housed within the Real-World Evidence division, will be responsible for business, compliance, and contracting procedures associated with a pragmatic clinical research study. The Operations Manager will be responsible for establishing and implementing internal and external processes to ensure strong fiscal management and legal compliance. This position will maintain the pragmatic clinical research study budget, site contract management, and vendor contract management. This position provides detailed status updates and reports to leadership and/or project stakeholders as needed. This individual will need strong project management and organization skills and have experience in budget management and contract negotiation. This individual must be able to provide timely direction, framework and resources to peer staff regarding operational tasks. The ability to work collaboratively and influence without authority are critical.

 

  • Establish operating performance targets and monitor pragmatic clinical research study operations and processes for compliance. Develop reports or assessment tools as needed to ensure compliance of administrative and financial processes
  • Prepare, monitor, and evaluate program budget for pragmatic clinical research study to ensure that budget complies with allocated funding Provide status updates and reports to leadership and sponsor as needed
  • Negotiate, structure, and manage the legal contracting and subcontracting processes for the pragmatic clinical research study
  • Identify and implement strategies to resolve problems or barriers that could hinder successful implementation of the pragmatic clinical research study
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop strategic operational plans for the pragmatic clinical research study, which build an environment of collective responsibility and accountability to ensure adherence to key performance objectives
  • Develop and leverage partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to meet business and operational needs
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor



Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Five (5) – Eight (8) years of relevant experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Project Management
  • Demonstrated ability in planning, budgeting, assigning, directing, coordinating, and reviewing work.
  • Strong data management and analytic skills
  • Contract management and negotiation
  • Ability to travel up to 25% local and overnight stay

 

Preferred Experience:

 

  • Knowledge of clinical studies, including industry’s legal rules and guidelines
